On Möbel Höffner’s homepage, it was easy to get lost between complicated discount campaign systems, ‘60% OFF’-banners and seasonal super sales. My mission was to create a design that provides an overview, secures trust through transparency and invites customers to explore the shop.

Due to disclosure agreements with my former employer, the level of detail and information I can share about the following projects is limited.
Höffner is omni-present throughout Germany with their many aggressive offline campaigns promising never seen before discounts. While the stores mostly attract an older demographic, who value high quality, long lasting furniture and great deals, the online shop and Höffners social media presence target a younger audience. It aims at users, who get inspired on instagram or pinterest, who enjoy exploring new trends and change things up in their home frequently. At the same time, online customers love a good bargain. They subscribe to newsletters to stay informed about recent deals, however with the frequency and volume of campaigns, it can be difficult to keep an overview.
Previous Design of Möbel Höffner Homepage (Desktop & Mobile)
The former homepage was visually outdated and didn’t perform well on mobile. While it showed off some brands and product lines, it didn’t present them in an interesting enough way to make users engage. Some components were loaded with information and difficult to process, some were lacking clarification. Visually, an accumulation of many different styling- and design decisions create an inconsistent image and negatively influence readability and usability on mobile devices. The goal for a new homepage design was to make it more interesting, create transparency and add elements that are relevant for our users.
Components for Homepage Redesign: Mood-Image with Product-Hotspots, Magazin-Integration, Campaign-Countdown, Instagram-Feed with Posts from Followers
In the Höffner stores, plenty of showrooms invite customers to discover products and display
seasonal or discounted items. I wanted to distil this experience into the homepage. The page should
also give an overview on current campaigns, but with a sense of transparency and without cognitively
overwhelming the user.
Below, two important teasers remain within the viewport: an overview of store locations and the
“Prospekt”, a product overview page that shows all discount highlights.
To boost the online community engagement, a large section is dedicated to an instagram integration
as well as the Höffner Magazin, which frequently features small influencers.
From the technical side, improving usability and readability as well as making banner creation and
editing faster for the team was a priority.
